We are knee deep in preparation for living in the tiniest, oldest camper known to man. Main concerns today? Cooking, storing, shopping & meal planning. So far, I’m thinking crockpot & toaster oven. Have any tips to offer on living in a pop-up sized camper with no oven or fridge?

I finished reading Kite Runner the other day and it prompted me to try Tandori Naan. I made lasagna last night so I bought the garlic flavored stuff (it was on sale). Not bad; think I’d like the plain better. REALLY garlicky. BTW–the book was well written and colorful, but disturbing. Wouldn’t read again and have all those awful thoughts randomly surfacing 🙁

I think we’re driving out to dad’s Monday to preview above referenced camper. Wish us luck on the condition of the camper & the weather.

I’m kind of excited about filling Lil’ Bit”s stocking for the Feast of St. Nicholas on Saturday. Incidentally, I planned on cooking a turkey that day. We really will be feasting!

I had really hoped to do a cookie swap this year, but with all of our friends feeling the economy in Michigan and us getting ready to move, it just wasn’t going to happen. So I was even MORE excited to participate in the Virtual Cookie Swap at The Creamer Chronicals. Come check it out!

Everyone should use sign language with their babes. It’s so much nicer to see her tug on my pant leg, signing for na-na’s (or to nurse), than hearing her screech. It’s really fun to see the expression on her face as she learns to communicate too. I love it!

Do all babies have a shoe fetish? She loves them…as long as they are in her mouth, not on her feet. My shoes, dad’s shoes, her shoes, doll shoes…she’s an indiscriminate shoe lover.

I bought a kit from Amazon called Sign, Sing & Play. We do have the book only in our store: http://astore.amazon.com/parentingtc-20?_encoding=UTF8&node=9.
We've been using frequently used signs (bath, nurse, bird, etc.) since she was 6 mos old. Her motor skills are now to the point where she was able to make her first sign back last month & just added the sign for more in the last few days. The book in the kit gives great ways to incorporate it into daily life. I love it!

10 December 2008 at 6:49 PM (16 years ago)It was so fun to read your quicktakes! About teaching your daughter sign language – I am getting my master’s in family studies and have read articles about how beneficial this is, but have no idea how I can incorporate it into my parenting someday because my husband and I do not know it. Any suggestions?
