We went to my dad’s on Monday to look at the camper we are going to borrow. It’s a pop-up & could be hauled by a car so our Astro Van shouldn’t even notice it’s back there. It has a full/queen sized bed, a sink & two burner stove that folds down into the aisle while traveling. Under that, I have about 1.5 cubic feet of space. There is a built in cooler near the door and a table that converts into a bed. There is some limited storage under the seats over the wheel wells. I also measured that with the table down to travel, I clear about a foot under the table and about 1.5 cubic feet right in front of the door.
As I said before, we are bringing a van (which I’d like to keep as empty as possible) and it will have a Thule ski “rack” on top. Right now, I have several lists:
- clothing – mom, dad, daughter
- baby stuff – luckily we are pretty minimalist anyway so it could be MUCH worse; does incl. toys.
- personal hygene supplies – incl. linens
- kitchen supplies – incl. pantry leftovers, cookbooks, linens
- office in a box + new printer
- stuff to DO (crafts, music, movies, books)
- tools/essentials (hoses, electrical cords)
- home altar components
I think there are more but I don’t have them immediately handy. We will start out in a parking lot with access to bathrooms & electrical. We will join a gym for access to a shower. We also just got word from our contact down there that they have an Airstream we can use as a living room. Yeah!
As we get closer to leaving I will post detailed packing lists and more plans.
