On Sunday, I did my coupon caper shopping.
I did pretty good at Walgreens. I only bought four things. The first was some Revlon matte collection eyeshadow. It was priced at $5.29 and I had a $2.00 coupon plus it was a free with rebate item so I made $2.00. A little more actually, since I get a 10% bonus on rebates by putting it on a Walgreens card.
I also got a package of Huggies diapers (34 ct) for $9.99 and had a coupon for $1.50 off, plus I got a $1.00RR. I can also submit this for a Caregivers Marketplace rebate of $0.75. Final price = $6.74. Not as good as some, but since I’m just starting out, I’m not overly concerned. Average PPD is about 20 cents.
I also got 2 boxes of Lightdays pantyliners (48 ct) on sale 2/$6. I used two $1.50/1 coupons I got by requesting a sample and got $1RR. Final price = $1.00 each.
Original price – $25.76
Sale price – $21.38
Coupon used – $6.50
Total due – $16.38
OOP – $0.00 (I used a previous WG rebate gift card)
Total saving (with rebate) – almost 68%!
At CVS, I only picked up 2 things, well 3 if you want to get technical. I bought some Maybelline mineral foundation for $9.99 & some concealor for $8.49. Total was $18.48. I had a $3/1 coupon. Total after coupon = $15.48. Because I bought 2 items, I got $10 in ECB’s. Final price $5.48 (or about $2.75 each).
I also bought a bottle of St. Ives body wash on sale for $2.99. I used a printable coupon for $2.00 from their website and got it for a $0.99!
Total value – $22.47
Sale price – $21.47
Coupons used – $5.00
P.E. ECB’s used – $2.00
Total OOP – $14.47
ECB earned – $10.00
Total trip cost – $6.47 *
Total savings – almost 70%!
I also ended up with some unexpected K-mart goodness that I didn’t realize until I got home and looked at the (remnants) of the receipt.
Among other things, I bought a swifter mop kit and some wet and dry refills. The starter kit was $9.99 and I had a $2/1 coupon from a mailer – That they DOUBLED!!! So it was only $5.99!
They also had refills 2/$7. I had a $0.50 coupon from the same mailer that they also doubled. So I got the refills for $3.00 each. Nothing special there but the doubling was unexpected so I felt the need to include it.
* I didn’t want to count previously earned ECB’s twice so I omitted them from trip cost.

If you go to caregiversmarketplace.com, they offer a mail-in rebate of $0.75 per jumbo pack of huggies diapers, among other things. you just need to have 5 items to send in a rebate request. I just found out about it in the last month or two.
CVS doesn’t seem to have a rebate program, just the sales and the ECB’s from what I can tell.
