Jenna’s Cowboy by Sharon Gillenwater is the first book in the Callahan’s of Texas series published by Revell.
From the Publisher:
Jenna Callahan Colby thought she was content. A partner on her father’s successful ranch, she is surrounded by family and friends. But she never expected to see Nate Langley back in town–the first guy she ever noticed, the one her father sent away all those years ago.
And she never thought the attraction they felt would be as strong as ever.
Jenna’s cowboy has some healing of his own to do, though, after two tours of duty in the armed forces. With the help of good friends, strong faith, and a loving family, he hopes to put the horrors of the past behind him–and become the man Jenna deserves.
One of the things I like best about this book is that the situations are real. There are real problems (the healing alluded to in the summary), real reactions to situations, real love and real community. I really hate it when love stories are SO perfect and the circumstances SO extreme that when they end up happily ever after it’s a miracle and then some. Jenna’s Cowboy is not one of those books. People have bad days, embarrassing things happen, families interfere, but it logically progresses and you fall in love with the characters, warts and all. I recommend this book to anyone who likes romance novels and doesn’t want (or need) gratuitous sex, but likes a good love story. I look forward to reading the next in the series!
