I realize that apple season is nearly over, but I was busy sharing my baby list recipes first. This is my absolute favorite apple recipe from my grandmother. The topping is out of this world!
Ingredients:
- 4-1/2 c. apples, sliced
- 3/4 c. sugar, divided
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1 c. sifted flour
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 c. butter
- 2 c. corn flakes
Directions:
Spread apples in greased 9×9 pan. Combine 1/2 c. sugar & cinnamon and sprinkle on top of apples.
Sift together the flour and salt and remaining 1/4 c. sugar. Crush corn flakes into crumbs. Combine with flour mixture and add butter.
Pour evenly over apples.
Bake at 400F until apples are tender and topping is brown and crunchy — at least 20 minutes.
Serves 9.
