Always something! I slipped up a few times & blatantly overate early in the week. My daughter’s birthday party was yesterday with her actual birthday today, which didn’t help.
I did get to exercise FINALLY on Friday. We were getting ready for a realtor tour of our home earlier in the week. Prayers that we sell before fall please!!

I’ve spent a lot of time reading about losing weight lately. Obviously I struggle with implementation, as is true in ALL areas of my life. I was fortunate to get a spot on the LitFuse blog tour for Made To Crave by Lysa TerKeurst. This was an interesting book because it didn’t tell you how to lose weight per se but how you are meant for more. She approaches weight loss from a very spiritual position. Lysa covers many angles of weight loss struggles including food being a drug, trying to do it alone (i.e. without God OR others), contentment, and even how you are made for SUCCESS! She also covers things like making peace with your realities, exercise, having plans for bad days (because really, don’t we all emotionally eat?), being emotionally empty, and fighting the battle (with the devil) for your life — sometimes literally depending on how far you’ve gotten yourself.
Lysa tackles these hard subjects from a very kind but firm view. She quotes scripture to back up each of her premises and has several personal reflection questions that can be quite hard to answer at the end. She also talks about her personal struggles, which make me like her and want to listen to what she has to say. Personally, I will have to go back and WORK the book, not just read it. Fortunately, the chapters are only a few pages long each. The personal searching is the hardest part about the book.
From the publisher:
Just because a woman finally fits into her skinny jeans doesn’t mean she’s won her battle with food. Too often, women overlook the spiritual component to their physical struggle with healthy eating. Made to Crave taps into the desires God gave you to consume food without letting food consume you!
Made to Crave is the missing link between a woman’s desire to be healthy and the spiritual empowerment necessary to make that happen. The reality is we were made to crave. Craving isn’t a bad thing. But we must realize God created us to crave more of him. Many of us have misplaced that craving by overindulging in physical pleasures instead of lasting spiritual satisfaction. If you are struggling with unhealthy eating habits, you can break the “I’ll start again Monday” cycle, and start feeling good about yourself today. Learn to stop beating yourself up over the numbers on the scale. Discover that your weight loss struggle isn’t a curse but rather a blessing in the making, and replace justifications that lead to diet failure with empowering go-to scripts that lead to victory. You can reach your healthy weight goal – and grow closer to God in the process. This is not a how-to book. This is not the latest and greatest dieting plan. This book is the necessary companion for you to use alongside whatever healthy lifestyle plan you choose. This is a book and Bible study to help you find the “want to” in making healthy lifestyle choices. 224 pages. Companion Bible study DVD set also available. http://madetocrave.org/purchase-resources/
