Let’s not go into how badly I tanked this week.  Let’s let the scale speak for me:

Last week (1/31/11):  162

This week (2/8/11): 162.5

Change: +0.5 lb (-3 lbs total)

Well, that’s actually not as bad as I feared.  Regardless, I’ll discuss the failures next week.  I just am not in the mood right now.

As I mentioned last week, I’ve been doing a lot of READING about weight loss (Let’s not go into the application this week).  I was sent a copy of The Real Skinny on Losing it by Michelle McKinney Hammond to read & review.   I have to say that I have mixed thoughts about this book.  The first half was a lot of fun.  I felt like this was a book written to my younger self by me in a few years.   She is a ton of fun to read and I identify many of my flaws & struggles in her story.

Where she lost me was when she began to talk about cleansing & fasting.  I understand that those might be useful but didn’t seem to fit in such a casual book despite her assurances that they may or may not be for you.  After that she mentioned some different diet plans that I may do some further reading on.  I’m skeptical because of the cleansing & fasting, but I HAVE heard about them for others so I may read more.

I do like the questions at the end of each chapter to reflect on and I liked her candor.  Overall, I’d recommend it for a fun & entertaining and mildly informational read, but I wouldn’t call it the last book you will need on your journey.

You can read the first chapter of the book at Tyndale’s website.

I remember hearing about that. Probably not in my cards anytime soon since I’m nursing though…and will probably be preggo soon after I’m not (God-willing, of course).

Don’t be too hard on yourself. We all have off periods, but keep at it. I hope you have a better week ahead and you can squeeze some gold out of those weight loss books you have been reviewing.

Have you read Body Clutter? It’s one that I have here that I started ages ago that I want to pick up and re-do. Don’t give up on this. Tomorrow is a new day with a new chance. 🙂

Yeah… I had it and the workbook and I gave them both away. I am the most knowledgable person on earth about weight loss. I have read almost every book. I just hate DOING the things they say to do!
