Since things have settled down a bit, I’m back to doing stuff with Lil’ Bit again. On purpose & intentionally, I mean. I’ve starting gathering books for holidays now that she’s old enough to look forward to them & kind of get an idea as to what they’re about.
Our first acquisition was actually brought to us by my Mother-in-law. We love all things Snoopy/Peanuts around here. Happy Valentine’s Day, Sweet Babboo! is a great little book. Large colorful pictures and small amounts of text per page mean it could be read to a small child without boring them. This is primarily a tale of Sally being upset because Linus didn’t get her anything for Valentine’s Day. She tells Charlie Brown to punch him in a funny comedy of errors in true Charlie Brown fashion.
The next book, The Night Before Valentine’s Day, is another recent acquisition, thanks to Paperback Swap. This is a fun book because it sticks so closely to the rhythm of Twas the Night Before Christmas without feeling forced. A super cute book!
Our last book, Clifford’s Valentine’s Day, was also got through Paperback Swap. It has everyone’s favorite red dog & of course it isn’t as good as the original (are they ever?), BUT it does have two books in one — Clifford’s First Valentine’s Day & Clifford We Love You. I’m always about getting more bang for my buck :).

Carrie, Reading to Know
11 February 2011 at 1:34 PM (14 years ago)I’m always on the lookout for new V-Day books! So glad you highlighted these in particular. I’ve tried Peanuts with the boys but they haven’t taken hold yet. Clifford, on the other hand, is right on target.
Hope you have a great weekend!

Lil’ Bit has been introduced to snoopy from birth. Her bassinet bumpers and blankets were snoopy and my MIL kept finding board books & stuff at used stores. They were probably the first “brand” she ever knew. Until Disney that is :).
