We did it! Our first week of homeschool. Four days in a row and everything.
Those of you who saw my original curriculum post can rest easy. I revised my plan and it went great. Well, as great as it could have with a 3.5 year old & a 9 mo old :). Let’s be real.
Here is what we did.
Catechesis – Who Am I? We got through Lesson 1 – The Trinity. We even did both worksheets.
Preschool – We did the first unit in Little Saints – God Made Me Special. We even did most of the art & learning projects. Favorite book was Angel in the Waters. Such a precious book!
Pre-Reading – We talked about what sound the letter A makes, put the A on the coconut tree, and did a bunch of A projects of various types.
Montessori – We didn’t get to the rice bucket, but we did bead lacing (too easy for her, I think) and play-doh.
Extras – We even did some “extras” today — Music Study – Violin, Artist Study – Rousseau, and the first Weekly Reader of the year (back to school).
I was surprised that it didn’t take long to do what felt like a TON of stuff (poems, stories, worksheets, art projects, games, etc), but only took 2 hours. And that two hours was mostly keeping Itty Bitty amused so I could work with Lil’ Bit. Damage control, if you will :). I also did a lot of prep during this time, too — It wasn’t all ready to go when we started.
We skipped some things which I’m okay with because this should be fun at this age. I also learned not to get the Montessori stuff out until I’m ready or nothing else will get done! Loves the hands-on; I may have to add more later.
Also, we went to a birthday party and to the nature center during two days, built a fence during the other two (so grandparents were here) and we STILL got it done. Very excited!
See what others are doing at Weird, Unsocialized Homeschoolers!
