By the Light of the Silvery Moon {Book Review}

I’m a big fan of Tricia Goyer so I always request one of her books when I have the opportunity. I was recently offered the chance to read By the Light of the Silvery Moon and jumped on it. This historical fiction takes place on the Titanic. I’ve never read anything about the Titanic. In fact, I’m not sure I even saw the movie when it was all big.

This book centers on a young English lady who has been corresponding with an American gentleman her cousin recommended. Eager to meet his lady pen pal, he pays for her second-class (mid-range) ticket to the US for her, her aunt, and her cousin. At the 11th hour, her cousin ends up in jail and while boarding she sees a stowaway getting kicked off the ship rather harshly. Ever compassionate, she gives him her cousins cabin & clothes.

It turns out the stowaway is no ordinary downtrodden, but a young man who is used to frequenting first class. With a peppered past & estranged from his family, this is his story. And hers. And his brother’s, who also happens to be on board. And attracted to her. Which one will she choose? And will they make it out alive?

As I mentioned, I’m not a Titanic buff so I haven’t a clue as to the historical accuracy. I am, however a historical book lover and I really liked By the Light of the Silvery Moon. I liked the characters and was tickled with the surprise twist near the end. This book would be a great beach read and if you are a titanic buff, you will probably enjoy this story of it’s voyage.
