I found this recipe while looking for St. Patrick’s Day ideas and they turned out fabulous! I really wanted to share it last week, but can you believe that I didn’t take any pictures? Ack! These are WAY better than the Cheddar biscuits at the place that rhymes with Lead Monster. WAY better. And super easy to boot!
Ingredients:
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp salt (3/4 tsp if using Kosher salt)
4 tsp baking powder
1 tablespoon sugar
1 cup butter, divided
2/3 cup milk
4 oz (about 1-1/2 c. FRESHLY shredded) sharp cheddar cheese
1/4 to 1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp of salt
Directions:
Preheat your oven to 450. Mix together flour, salt, baking powder, and sugar in a bowl. Use your pastry blender to cut in 1/2 c. (1 stick) of butter until crumbly. Shred your cheese. Trust me, pre-shredded is not as good. Add milk to flour/butter mixture until dough starts to pull away from bowl. Add shredded cheese and combine – I use my hands.
Melt the other 1/2 cup (1 stick) of butter. Add garlic powder and salt and stir to combine. Form dough into balls about the size of a golf ball and pat into biscuit shape. Dredge biscuits in garlic butter on both sides and place on cookie sheet. Cook for about 10-12 minutes until GBD. They are not as good overcooked, trust me.
Makes 12-18 biscuits.
Enjoy!
