I am an streamlining junkie. I am constantly re-assessing systems to find out things that are working. Or not. If they aren’t, I try to make them work better. Last year I had the pleasure of reviewing the original book from Simplified Pantry — Simplified Dinners. I loved that book!
I’ve been moving toward paleo eating and while Simplified Dinners Gluten Free/Dairy Free isn’t paleo, per se, it is gluten-free (which I suspect I have a sensitivity too, if nothing else) and it’s dairy-free which is essential when I am exclusively nursing. Nothing binds my babies up like mama eating milk :(. When I was offered the opportunity to review all 3 of Mystie’s books by the Schoolhouse Review Crew, I jumped at it!
Paperless Home Organization
Since I had already read Simplified Dinners, I was most excited to read her Paperless Home Organization book. I am a GTD & Evernote fanatic and Paperless Home Organization is a manual about GTD for mom’s using Evernote (among other tools) to organize your home paperlessly.
Mystie covers several topics including streamlining email using Gmail. While I have used Gmail for years and even set it up for GTD, I was so inspired by Ms. Winckler’s tips that I was starting to regret reading it at 9pm. I spent the next week being ruthless on filtering my email.
But the email wasn’t the only useful tip. She also talks about setting up task lists with various online programs. These weren’t much use to me since I have a GTD project & task tracking app on my phone that I love, but if you don’t have one, she uses commonly used, available, and I think even free apps.
My favorite tips, though, were on using Evernote. I’ve been working on using Evernote for more things over the last several months, but had been mostly using it for work. After reading Paperless Home Organization, I became completely inspired to use it for blogging and homeschooling and home, as well. In fact, I loved the homeschooling outline and blogging outline.
Summary
Overall, I loved all three of Mystie Winckler’s books. Her Simplified Dinner’s books changed how I think about meal planning and I loved how Paperless Home Organization changed how I think about and run my email and organize all the details of our life. I’m always about doing things better and more efficiently and all of her books have given me great ideas or ways to use tools to do so. Both Simplified Dinner books are $12.99 and Paperless Home Organization is $3.99, but until June 3, 2013, you can get 30% off any/all of her ebooks with the code TOS2013!

That’s awesome. 🙂 Remember there’s an Evernote edition of Simplified Dinners, too, if that would be helpful!
