I’ve been wanting to share these two Catholic children’s bedtime prayers for months, but kept forgetting.
The first is one that most of us are familiar with, but last time our priest came over for dinner, he let us know that there is a second verse.
Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep
Now I lay me down to sleep
I pray The Lord my soul to keep
If I die before I wake
I pray The Lord my soul to takeBut should I waken with the light,
’tis Jesus kept me through the night
and should I live another day,
I pray that Jesus guide my way.Amen.
This other one was found & added to our routine by my husband.
Four Corners
There are 4 corners on my bed
There are 4 angels over head
Saint Matthew, Mark, Luke & John
God Bless the bed that I lie on
And If I die before I wake
I pray The Lord my soul to take
If any evil comes to me
Blessed lady awaken me.
We add these to an Our Father & a Hail Mary.
What prayers are a part of your children’s bedtime prayer routine?

Mathew, Mark Luke and John
bless this bed I lay upon
all 4 corners round about
all 4 angles over head
with one to sing
one to pray
and two to watch me through the day
God bless Mommy, Daddy, Shelley, David, Greg
and everyone I know and love
and God bless me.

My kids pray what I prayed as a child:
Dearest Jesus, through the night
Love me, keep me, hold me tight. Amen.
We often substitute other names for “me.” It’s a sweet little prayer.
