Giving-Gratitude for Kids
Last November, I started a series on the works for mercy for children. I’m hoping to add a few more this year and will start with giving drink to the thirsty. Oddly enough, I considered this one too hard to do last year, but there are several ways children can help give drink to the thirsty.

Help Your Siblings

Or anyone really. Since our youngest was born & especially after the water dispenser in our fridge broke, our oldest has been helping get drinks for her sister & I for months now. She’s also being trained to be our ‘hostess with the most-ess’ by asking guests if they would like a drink.

Alex’s Lemonade Stand

If your child has an entrepreneurial bent, how about a lemonade stand that benefits children’s cancer patients? Alex’s Lemonade Stand was started by a 4 year old who wants to get rid of cancer. They provide research grants as well as helping families with travel & lodging. They even help train pediatric oncology nurses. Give drink to the thirsty for a good cause!

The Water Project

On a larger scale or as a family project, you could also help provide a biosand water filtration system at The Water Project. We first learned of this when it was a Rotary project in my husband’s club. I’ve also seen similar projects in the World Vision catalog as well as Heifer International. If you are looking for a Catholic organization, Catholic Relief Services helps with clean water projects.

What are ways your children/family has helped to give drink to the thirsty?
