Of you are looking for a last minute gift for children ages 4-10(?), you may be interested in a Kindle book of children’s poetry called One Size Fits All. Written by a Catholic homeschooling dad, this short book of witty poetry will delight the listeners, as it is best read aloud.
Most of the poems are of the silly & fun variety, but there is one or two that are not. They remind me of Jack Prelutsky or Shel Silverstein. Freddy Wacker does a good job with the rhythm & rhyme. I read several of them aloud while my husband and daughter were playing chess and got out loud laughter from both of them. Reading & reviewing this book of poetry prompted a heretofore unseen voracious appetite for poetry.
THE PROBLEM WITH HAVING A WORM AS A FRIEND
The biggest problem that I’ve found
With my new found friend–
I can’t tell which end is his face,
And which end is his end!
(Verse 1)
I think that I’ll go crazy,
If someone doesn’t tell me soon.
Did my new friend just smile at me,
Or have I just been mooned?
(Verse 5)
It’s been a delightful change of pace– even if there is only a minute or two, a poem (or two) can be read. And the fact it’s on a Kindle makes it great to have if you are stuck in an extra slow doctors office or line, if you have a smart phone.
Not sure how to make a Kindle book a gift?
Print a certificate telling them about the gift — ideal when the email from Amazon goes to a parent. This Pinterest board has a ton of options– http://www.pinterest.com/
Put the gift certificate in:
– a Christmas ornament
– a fun pair of socks or gloves
– put it in a balloon & tell them to pop it to find out what it is
– in a beanie baby or other small stuffed animals hands
– in a small candy box
– a wallet or coin purse
– in a small box
– with popcorn
– add to a gag or dollar store gift
If you need an inexpensive stocking stuffer or add on for a child in your life, One Size Fits All is a fun little book of poetry!
